The Design and an Example Use of Hearsay-III

چکیده
Hearsay-Ill provides a framework for constructing knowledge-based expert systems. While HearsayIll makes no commitment to any particular application domain, it does supply a variety of generally applicable facilities. These include representation primitives and an interpreter for large-grained, flexibly schedulable production rules called knowledge sources. A detailed overview of the motivations behind Hearsay-Ill and the facilities it provides are presented. Finally, an application of Hearsay-Ill is described.

When Do We Feel Sorry for Others? : An Externality of Lake Use as an Example
The purpose of the study was to verify, through the use of an experimental method, the assumption that the ‘economic human’ pays more attention to the externality he/she causes as the strength of externality increases. We used a social-experiment design within an undergraduate classroom to test assumptions, using statistical method. A lakeside plant was used as an example. Our results confirmed...

Extended Abstract. Sampling is the process of selecting units (e.g., people, organizations) from a population of interest so that by studying the sample we may fairly generalize our results back to the population from which they were chosen. To draw a sample from the underlying population, a variety of sampling methods can be employed, individually or in combination. Cut-off sampling is a pr...
متن کاملThe Hearsay Speech Understanding System: An Example of the Recognition Process
This paper describes the structure and operation of the Hearsay speech understanding system by the use of a specific example illustrating the various stages of recognition. The system consists of a set of cooperating independent processes, each representing a source of Knowledge. The knowledge is used either to predict what may appear in a given context or to verify hypotheses resulting from a ...

Since its inception, evidence policymakers have vacillated with respect to whether the rule barring hearsay evidence at trial is a doctrine designed to promote decisional accuracy or a doctrine designed to promote procedural justice. To the extent that policymakers view the rule barring hearsay evidence as promoting decisional accuracy, the rationale for this view stems from the “testimonial tr...
متن کاملTime-Mode Signal Quantization for Use in Sigma-Delta Modulators
The rapid scaling in modern CMOS technology has motivated the researchers to design new analog-to-digital converter (ADC) architectures that can properly work in lower supply voltage. An exchanging the data quantization procedure from the amplitude to the time domain, can be a promising alternative well adapt with the technology scaling. This paper is going to review the recent development in t...
